Story to remember three words - ruse, guzzle & Ostracise


Story:

First part:

There was a man who wanted to drink wine but he pretended to his wife that he had to go out for buying rose for his friend’s birthday. So, buying rose was a ruse. 

First word: ruse

Meaning: a way of doing something or of getting something by cheating somebody

किसी को धोखा देकर कुछ करने या कुछ पाने का एक तरीका

Imagination: Buying of rose is a ruse 


Second part:

But as he had to drink wine, he went to the nearby bar where ग़ज़ल was being sung and he guzzled a lot of wine. 

Second word: guzzled

Meaning: to drink something quickly and in large amounts

कुछ जल्दी और बड़ी मात्रा में पीना

Imagination: guzzling wine while listening to ग़ज़ल 


Third part:

But as he returned he was caught by his wife and the wife did not allow him to go to neighbour’s birthday party. In a way he was ostracised.  

Third word: ostracised


Meaning: to refuse to let somebody be a member of a social group, to refuse to meet or talk to somebody
